2. Carry a Note Book!

Pablo Picasso said (in Spanish, of course!): 'When inspiration comes, I want it to find me working.' Isn't that a wonderful explanation? It's among my most favourite quotations. I've used it again and again, to encourage me to work every day.

But there are other moments, too … moments when I could be working, in all sorts of odd places and at all kinds of weird times.

It's great if you're working when a brilliant idea comes into your head but, in the supermarket, you will need a note book to write it down. If you wake in the night with a clever phrase you want to use the next day – you won't remember it! However good the idea is, there's no guarantee it will stay in the front of your mind.

So always have a note book to hand.
