McAahny

Can you crack the code? There are two on this page - one of them a new Labyrinth competition ... But before that ...

There are several things I want to say.
First of all, I am incredibly grateful to all the readers I have never met who have bought my novel Labyrinthand taken it to number 9 on the Sunday Times hardback fiction list for 2005. That's beyond my wildest dreams.

Secondly, enormous gratitude to the team at my publisher Orion and my agents Lucas Alexander Whitley.

The third thing is to thank the continuing stream of interested visitors to this website. Recently I had a fascinating email from Suzanne Leu, a translator from Basel in Switzerland, which led to a whole new strand of research around the author Régine Pernoud. More of this later …

And four is the new Labyrinth creative writing competition. This is competition 10. You are invited to write a 1000-word short story with the title CODE. The prizes include tickets to the Chichester Writing Festival in April 2006. [This competition closed in March 2006.]

(If you would like to see work submitted to comps 1 to 9, click this link. If you want hints on writing, try our Advice to Writers pages.)

Finally, did you crack. my silly code? McAahny … Is it a name you should know? Why not write to greg.mosse@sepulchre.co.uk if you've got it?

Always questions in the Labyrinth.
