Last...

My name is Kate Mosse. I am the creator and writer in residence of www.mosselabyrinth.co.uk, based on my novel – Labyrinth - an adventure story set in the medieval past and the present day ...

The purpose of this website is to share the process of writing Labyrinth and to find out if it is possible, using the internet, to encourage new directions in Labyrinth visitors' reading and creative writing.

My home page diaries are published every Monday. They are designed to show just how personal the process of writing a novel can be.

I wish this page could self-destruct at midnight on 31 December. This page is a celebration and an invitation to a new challenge.

I am writing the final chapter of Labyrinth in the next few days - the final chapter of a complete typescript of around 180,000 words. (I haven't counted. I'm just guessing.)

I will edit the work in my head and try not to give in to the temptation to tinker. As I fret I will nervously await the advice of my agent and my husband, each of whom will receive a copy on paper.

Is there a worse time for an author? I can't think when it might be if there is.

Happy New Year, by the way!

Once you reach the centre of the Labyrinth, there is only one path you can take.
